Project description
To solve a space constraint at the downtown campus, while ensuring preservation and accessibility, the McGill Library decided to build the Collections Center in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. This center is now a storage facility for a large proportion of the library's printed materials, and has been specifically designed with climate control to ensure optimal preservation.
In addition, eco-responsible initiatives were implemented during construction to make the building energy efficient and reduce its carbon footprint.
Our mission on this project?
Our team's mandate was to carry out the commissioning stages for basic, enhanced and remote monitoring-based (MCBx) commissioning credits. Construction was aimed at achieving LEED v4 certification for the Collection Center's warehouses and distribution centers.
Our expertise was therefore called upon for energy modeling and commissioning, within the framework of LEED NC (new construction) certification.

Results
The McGill University Collections Centre has been awarded LEED CI-v4 Gold certification, with a score of 60/110.
Of the 60 points awarded, our team was responsible for 19 points, or 31.5% of the total:
Our team had a significant impact on the project by identifying and resolving a large number of potential problems that could have affected the customer's operations for years to come. Thanks to our efforts, these deficiencies were addressed during the warranty period and by the contractors, thus avoiding costly interruptions.
In addition, our MBCx service actively monitored the performance of HVAC systems, alerting operators to deviations from expected standards and providing them with solutions to optimize performance.
Our proactive involvement not only ensured the smooth running of the installations, but also enabled potential problems to be anticipated and resolved, offering significant added value to the project.
A merger that will combine their respective expertise, resources and technologies, to create a more robust company and meet the industry's challenges in terms of energy efficiency and decarbonization.
